Melissa Mimura’s story

I’m a father of two daughters.  Our older daughter Melissa died on April 2nd 2017 on the Coquihalla Highway, just two months before her graduation from UBCO.  She was driving alone from Vancouver to her apartment in Kelowna. Her web cam showed that the weather was to be beautiful all the way, but it changed suddenly and her car slipped and the first accident happened. She was ok and called her boyfriend and 911 for help. While she was waiting for help, a following car which was overtaking a trailer on a downhill right curve couldn’t avoid Melissa’s car in the center ditch and hit it. Melissa was outside of her car on the other side where she was struck the back of her head and died instantly.
